Roger E. Troike

Roger E. Troike, age 80, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, following a brief illness.

He was born March 2, 1941, in Sandusky, and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1959.  Following high school, Roger graduated from Mount Union College, receiving a bachelor’s degree in education.  He began teaching at Margaretta High School and then went to work in the banking industry for several years.  Roger wanted to get out of the corporate world and back to teaching, so he went back to school and earned his Master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1994.  He went on to teach Special Needs at Willard Elementary, where he ended his working career.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, as well as drawing and painting.  Roger played for many years in the Castalia Lions Club golf league.

He is survived by two sons Marc (Jill) Troike, Miamisburg, and Ben (Jennifer) Troike, Delaware; grandson Timothy Troike; sister-in-law Ellen Troike, Sandusky, and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Manota (Sauvey) Troike; grandson Nathan Troike; and brother Jon Troike.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 2-4 PM at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.
