He was born December 12, 1929, in Venice, OH, to the late Mr. William J. and Mrs. Lucena (Biller) Quinn. Richard grew up on the family farm learning the lessons of the Great Depression. He was a member of Margaretta High School's class of 1947 where he played 6-man football and acted in school plays.1948 saw Richard begin his 38-year career as a machinist at New Departure, Sandusky, OH.

Rich enjoyed the love and loving of two good women, marrying his first wife, Emily Jean Mowry who he met at a Downings barn dance, on October 13, 1951. She predeceased him in 1976. On February 3, 1978, Richard married Julie Ann Angel, who survives.

He was an avid outdoorsman, trapping with his father, hunting with his father and then his sons, fishing with a host of friends both around Lake Erie and Canada's Georgian Bay, then later in life bird watching with grandchildren. Rich also enjoyed travelling with family making many car trips in the 50's and 60's and then international travel in the 80's and 90's. Regardless of the venue, Rich enjoyed meeting people and making friends. His favorite pastime though was playing cards with family and friends.

Rich began his Christian walk at Trinity Lutheran Church in Venice where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served on the Vestry. Later he attended Congregational United Church of Christ, Castalia.
