Remona "Nan" Hensley, 85, of Crystal Rock, died Thursday. Aug. 15, 2019, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
She was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Manchester, KY, then moved to Sandusky with her husband to make her home. She reached her arms to her loving husband, who came to get her and have her pain free. She was rejoicing the memories of her life, before being diagnosed with dementia.
She was employed at Barr Rubber and OP Crafts, where she retired. Nan loved to cook, be mother to her siblings, poker games, and Blue Grass music, with Shine On being her favorite song.
She had no children of her own, but John Bates Hensley was her child by heart. She loved and raised him as her own, and he died May 31, 2013. John, with his wife Ruth, had 2 children John and Brittany, who were Nan's heart and soul.
Nan is survived by her siblings Leonard and Barb Gibbs, Randy and Kathy Gibbs, Rose and Boots Jarvis, and Brenda Gail Griffin; several nieces and nephews; friends and caregivers Lisa Hensley and Michelle Page; and sisters-in-law Daisy and Geneva Gibbs.
She was preceded in death by her husband JB Hensley; parents Roy and Lucy Gibbs; 3 sisters Ruth (Theo) Hensley, Mary (Clifford) Hensley, and JoAnn (Earl) Hensley; 2 brothers Pete and Renus Gibbs; and brother-in-law Marvin Griffin.
Friends may call from 10:00 am Tuesday, Aug. 20, until time of services at 12 noon in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.
