Max LaMar Bohn, age 91, of Castalia, went to be with the Lord, Monday October 21, 2024, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following lengthy illnesses.
He was born February 4, 1933, in Castalia, and graduated from Margaretta High School. He co-owned Bohn Implement since 1955, with his father and brothers. He was a farmer his whole life, retiring at the age of 88. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Chapel, Sandusky.
Max was very proud to be a farmer and whenever he was asked what he did for a living he would say “I feed the world”. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will always remember in their hearts all the fun they had on the farm from gator rides to combine and tractor rides. They will forever cherish those times. Family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife, the former Patty Payne to whom he was married to for 67 years; two daughters Jeanine (Ron) Bankieris and Lorrie (Rich) Mitnik; two sons David (Kathy) Bohn and Michael Bohn; eight grandchildren Randy (Jen) Cox, Bryan Cox, Tony (Taylor) Bankieris, Jessica (Jeremy) Bunce, Tyler (Crystal) Matter, Taylor (Travis) Brooks, Jacob Mitnik, and Jordan (Bryce) Roberts; 18 great grandchildren; sister in-law Betty Bohn; brother in-law Ted Payne; and several nieces and nephews.
Max was preceded in death by his parents George and Mildred Bohn; sister Patricia Gardner; brothers Jack, Bill, and George; brothers in-law Duane (Pat) Gardner, Calvin (Rita) Payne; sisters in-law Virginia (Jack) Bohn, Delores (George) Bohn, Rita (Calvin) Payne, and Janet (Ted) Payne; mother in-law Nona Payne.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday October 24, 2024, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM Friday October 25, 2024, at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd. Sandusky. Pastor Dave Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
