Mary Alice (Karbler) Riesterer

Mary Alice (Karbler) Riesterer, 93, died Saturday evening, December 19, 2020, at The Willows of Bellevue where she had resided for the last four years. 

She was born in Sandusky on December 2, 1927, to Edwin and Ruby (Joseph) Karbler and lived most of her life in Castalia.  On January 27, 1951, she married Carl Riesterer and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his death in 2012. 

Mary Alice was a graduate of Margaretta High School and was a registered nurse having graduated from Fairview Hospital School of Nursing.  She was employed at the former Good Samaritan Hospital and the office of Dr. Carver.  As a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church she was a circle member, President of the Women of the Church, and taught Mission Band.  She was also a Cub Scout leader for her sons.

 Mary Alice is survived by her daughter, Beverly (David) Mix, Castalia; two sons, Timothy (Martha) Riesterer, Castalia, and Thomas (Linda) Riesterer, Gallatin, TN; grandchildren, Philip Mix, Joseph Mix, Cory (Jess) Riesterer, Rebecca (Nick) Grome, Keith (Sarah) Riesterer, and Jared Riesterer; great-grandchildren Declan Mix, Perry and Naoma Grome, Aiden and Colin Riesterer; niece, Susan Karbler, and nephew, David Karbler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Jean Karbler.  

There will be a graveside service for Mary Alice in Castalia Cemetery and a memorial service at a later date.
