Marie C. Severance

Marie C. Severance, age 102, of Sandusky, passed away Friday morning, May 10, 2024, at Providence Care Center, Sandusky. 

She was born March 14, 1922, in Sandusky, to Peter and Emily (Olemacher) Peterson.  They moved to Avon Lake, where she graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1940.  She married her husband Joseph Severance in 1951, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia.  Marie worked for Good Samaritan Hospital and retired from Firelands Regional Hospital.  She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Woman’s Bowlers Hall of Fame.   

She is survived by her son Joe (Donna) Severance; grandchildren Jennifer (Craig Jess) Keller, Caleb (Kylie) Severance, Kendra (Kirk) Fortier, and Jessica (Michael) Glovinsky; great grandchildren Gabby and Brayden Keller, Jaxon Wagner, Spencer and Grace Fortier, Georgia Glovinsky, and Baby Boy Severance due in August.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Severance in 1999; and daughter and son in-law Carol and Stanley Greene.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday May 13, 2024, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11 AM in Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia.  Private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
