Kathryn Standifer Obituary

Kathryn M. Standifer, age 91, of Castalia, passed away Wednesday night, June 4, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.

She was born August 18, 1933, in New Washington, to Albert and Leona (Eberl) Miller.

She was a strong, independent woman who traveled coast to coast. She was a homemaker and a lover of nature and the outdoors. She loved watching the wildlife in her yard adjacent to Resthaven. She loved watching her hummingbirds and tending to her flowers. She liked the challenge of doing puzzles and crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp.

But most of all she loved and lived for her family. She was a kind, gentle, loving soul who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She was the rock of our family and she’ll be immeasurably missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her two sons David (Belinda) Standifer and Shane Standifer; granddaughter Ellis Nicole Standifer; great grandson Carter; three brothers: Jim (Valeda) Miller, Ray Miller, and Fred Miller; sister Ruthie (Tony) Stein; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Howard Standifer, in 2001; parents Albert and Leona Miller; five brothers Joseph (in infancy), Albert (Eva), Richard (Nancy), Robert, and Ed (Betty) Miller.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no services and cremation will take place.  Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
