Kathleen J. (Walby) Freeh, 84, of Castalia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018, surrounded by her beloved family at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Kathleen was born April 4, 1934 in Millersville, Ohio, to Lawrence and Loretta (Nopper) Walby.
She attended Millersville St. Mary’s and graduated from Fremont St. Joseph High School in 1952. After graduation she worked at Fremont Savings Bank. She also worked at Bogart Elementary School (Margaretta) and the Castalia Banking Company. She was a member of the Castalia Lions Auxiliary.
In 1952, she married the love of her life, Joe Freeh. Kathleen enjoyed reading, music, dancing, and movies, but her greatest joy was in spending time with her family, and vacations to the beach with her children and grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Lonnie (Susie) Freeh, Doug Freeh, Mark (Cora) Freeh all of Castalia, and Julie (Dan) Weng of Powell; grandchildren Patrick (Mary) Freeh, Kathleen Anne Freeh, Alex Weng, Rachel (Tighe) O’Connor, Andrew Freeh, and Stephen Freeh; sisters Patricia Boukissen, Vero Beach, Florida, and Eileen Randolph, Fremont; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Joseph P. Freeh, parents Lawrence and Loretta (Nopper) Walby, brother Gerald (Skip) Walby, and daughter-in-law Phyllis (Curreri) Freeh.
Friends and family may call Tuesday, May 15, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and 10-11 a.m., at Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, at the church, followed by burial at Castalia Cemetery, with Pastor Ryan Brown officiating.
