John Lippert Obituary

John William Lippert, age 67, of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in his residence, following a recent decline in health due to COPD.

He was born January 4, 1956, in Sandusky, as the third child to Johnnie (Sparks) and Kenneth Lippert Sr.  John was born and raised in the same home he passed away in.  He was a simple man who never felt the need for fancy things and was always content with what he had. John stood for hard work, integrity, and being a man of his word.  He was loyal to his family and friends and always committed to doing the right thing even when it wasn’t easy.  He made sacrifices, never complained and never spoke ill of others.  The world could really learn a lot from him if they took the time to really see him for who he was.  Losing him has filled our hearts with sadness.

In his younger years, he enjoyed gardening, church league softball and for many years played dartball.  He was employed by the Castalia Elevator until it closed, and for IAC, Huron, until its closure which allowed him to retire.  On January 30, 1982, he married Debra Dress and they spent 37 years together until her passing in August 2019.

He is survived by his daughter Darrah (Barry) Latham; two grandchildren Anna and Olivia Latham; step mother Lucille Lippert; sister in-law Sharon Lippert; special niece Jessica Lippert; two nephews Billy and Jon Lippert; and several step sisters and brothers.

John was preceded in death his wife Debra (Dress) Lipper; parents Johnnie and Kenneth Lippert Sr.; sister Sandra “Pidge” Lippert; and brother Kenneth Lipper Jr.

Per John’s wishes, he will be cremated and a private visitation will be held later.  Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
