John C. Barnes, age 89, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2025, at Admirals Point Nursing Home, Huron, following a brief illness.
He was born September 21, 1936, in Sandusky, and graduated from Margaretta High School. John proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for Commercial Lovely’s, Sandusky. He also worked for Margaretta schools for many years as a Janitor and attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky.
John is survived by his daughter Kathy Barnes; son Tom (Becky) Barnes; grandchildren Jena Miller and Bradley Barnes; great grandchildren Haley Miller, Wesley Miller, Lincoln Barnes, and Elena Barnes; sisters in-law Alice Bertsch and Donna Sessler; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife Carol (Sessler) Barnes; parents Max and Esther (Glum) Barnes; great grandson Conner Miller; sisters Ruthann Crawford and Nancy Bechtel; brother Robert Barnes; and grandson in-law Joe Miller; brothers in-law Robert (Nancy) Sessler, Curtis Sessler, and Robert Bertsch.
A celebration of life will be from 4-6 PM Monday, November 3, 2025, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery at a later date.
