Everett R. Giles, age 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Homer and Bertha (Taylor) Giles. When he was young, his family moved to Webster County WV where he later met his wife, Pauline (Mullens) Giles, who survives him. They were married for 69 years. He worked in coal mining, manufacturing, owned a siding business, before retiring from GM New Departure. He loved people and never met a stranger, saying “You are only a stranger till you say hello.” He served in the US Army and was military proud with children and grandchildren following in his footstep. He knew service to others as the best work in life. He lived out Biblical Scripture Mark 12:41-44. He did his part, including opening his home to others to give them a step up. He loved unconditionally. He loved to garden, hunt, fish, work on cars, go to the Sandusky Speedway, and King Midget shows, but most of all, time with his family and sharing stories with them. He was never afraid of taking on a challenge, saying “What is there to be afraid of?”. He received a high school equivalence diploma near the age of 70.
His family was his pride and joy, including 5 children who will dearly miss him; Kathie (Allan) Mueller, Carol Hay, Allen Giles, Tim (Lisa) Giles and Rodney Giles. He had 8 grandchildren; Carrie (Ray) Glock, Rob (Cali) Griggs, Corey (Angel) Hay, Jessica (Jude) Springer, Jennifer Hay, Jared (Melissa) Mueller, Carlye (Brad) Bibb and Madison Trimble. Seventeen great grandchildren; Brad (Cassie) Griggs, Donovan (Alyssa) Glock, Garrett Glock, Sasha Haas, Zachary Haas, Shianna (Tanner) Wood, Dakota (Alexis) Hay, Damion Hay, Devon Hay, Jayda Springer, Jaxen Springer, Makyah (Derek) Yeager, Taytum Bibb, Brayleigh Bibb, Ameliah Bibb, and Isaac Bibb. Five great great grandchildren, Jayce and Raegan Griggs, RosaLee Wood, Benson and Colton Everett Caster, with another great great grandchild on the way. He has a surviving sister-in-law Babe Giles of Cowen WV, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his 7 siblings; 5 brothers, Frank, Odell, O’Neal, Jack and John; 2 sisters Dorothy Holmes and Mable Carpenter; and sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 9 AM until time of services starting at 10 AM in Wayside Temple 3809 Maple Ave. Castalia, OH, on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Pastor Rusty Yost will officiate and burial will be in Castalia Cemetery. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements
