David A. Stewart, age 79, of Fremont, passed away Monday evening, July 5, 2022, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk, following a lengthy illness.
He was born October 1, 1942, in Toledo, and graduated from Woodward High School, Toledo, in 1962. David proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for JH Routh Packing Co., for over 20 years. He attended Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia, and loved gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and fishing; he also enjoyed water skiing and hunting when he was younger.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, LaVetta Ann (Keegan) Stewart, whom he married on June 5, 1971; two daughters Darlene Ouellete and Lydia Ann (James) Churchill; two sons David Arthur (fiancé Becky Goble) Stewart and Daniel Eli (Magdalena) Stewart; 15 grandchildren Dakota, Darlene, Abagail, Austin, Jacob, Connor, Tyler, Farrah, Daisy, Maggie, Marie, Daniella, Lincoln, Grant, and Henry; great grandchildren Myah, Gunner, Gideon, Beau, and Everly; sister Suzanne Payment; brother Arthur Stewart; brother in-law Leo (Susan) Keegan Jr.; two nieces Elizabeth (Gregg) Schoppman and Pamela (Joshua) Snyder; and nephew Leo Keegan III.
David was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Stewart and Ruth Krull.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM Friday, July 8, 2022, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from 10:30 AM until time of services at 11:30 AM, Saturday July 9, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. Pastor Kathleen Suggitt will officiate.
