Connie K. Knapp, 81, of Castalia passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, after a fiercely fought battle with leukemia.
She was born December 15, 1942, in Dayton, the daughter of Lloyd (Heinie) and Ruth Kress. Connie attended The Ohio State University where she met her husband of 62 years, Mel Knapp. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of living on a farm and raising a family on the Knapp Family historic homestead. Devoted mother, grandmother, and caretaker of all four-legged friends.
Connie is survived by her children, Leigh Anne Kerchner (husband, Colonel Scott Kerchner, USMC (Ret), Lisa Lafollette (husband, James Lafollette), Lara Storm (husband, James Storm), Melanie Knapp, grandchildren, Captain Trevor Kerchner, USMC, Captain Travis Kerchner, USMC (wife, Margaret Kerchner), Michael Baden, Emma Lafollette, Grace Lafollette, and Maddie Baden.
She was an avid and fiercely competitive card club member for 50 years. Connie was known for her baking and canning skills, love of every holiday, especially Christmas, and decorator of the homes of family and friends. These are a few of the many reasons that she was regarded as the best grandma by her six grandchildren. She will be missed by her family, friends, and her therapy cat, Spooky.
Private services and burial will be held at a later date. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
Donations can be made to: Margaretta FFA or The Bellevue Hospital Foundation, designated for The Cancer Care Services Department. Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.ransomfuneralhome.com
