William J. Whitt, age 82, of Perkins Twp, Sandusky, passed away Thursday morning, September 10, 2026, at Firelands Health, Sandusky, after a brief illness.

He was born in Morgan, KY, on October 13, 1943, the son of Sanford and Lorine (Stanley) Whitt. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964 as a cook. He married his beloved wife, Nona Vera Russell in 1967, and moved from Middletown, OH, to Sandusky to start work at Ford Motor Co. in 1968 as a tool & die maker until he retired in 1998. Bill was such a wit (literally). He had so many one-liners that always made you laugh. To know Bill was to love him as he was always there to help or fix things for you. Bill was of Christian faith.

He is survived by his wife Nona Vera (Russell) Whitt; son Dan (Shannon); five grandchildren; one step grandson; brothers Dean, Wendell, and Claude; and one Sister Glenda.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bernhard, Eugene, Louie, and Sandford Jr.; and sisters Lela, Fern, Dorothy, and Katie.

Friends may call from 11 AM until time of services at 12 Noon, Wednesday September 16, 2026, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St. Castalia. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
