Thomas F. Gerold, age 74, of Castalia, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.

He was born September 10, 1943, to Pierre and Eleanor (Winklea) in Sandusky, and graduated from Sandusky High School. He married Joanne (Kilgore) on October 15, 1966. Tom worked in tool and die for Delphi Automotive, Sandusky, and prior to that he worked for NASA Plumbrook.  Thomas was a member of the Sandusky Elks and American Legion.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and studying genealogy. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and the winters he spent in Florida with Joanne.

He is survived by his daughter Christine Gerold; son Dave (Tracy) Gerold; two grandchildren Nick and Abby Gerold; four sisters Jane Daniel, Mary Potts, Gloria (Dale) Hertzfeld, and Kay Benefiel; two brothers James (Donna) Gerold and Glen (Diane) Gerold; and many nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Joanne (Kilgore) Gerold; parents; and sister Sister Phyllis Ann Gerold.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 11:00 AM, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky.  Deacon Phil Dinovo will officiate.
