Sondra J. VanCauwenbergh, age 84, of Castalia, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 7, 2023, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.

She was born May 5, 1939, in Sandusky, and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1957.  She was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia, where she sang in the choir.  Sondra was a girl scout leader, sang for the Bayside Singers, and was co-chairman for the Cold Creek Festival Parade for over 20 years.

She is survived by her sons Scott (Krystal) VanCauwenbergh, and Ray VanCauwenbergh; three grandchildren Erin (Chase) Dull, Brett (Madison) VanCauwenbergh, and Teresa VanCauwenberg; great grandchildren Paisley Todd, Cambree Dull, Colton Dull, and Emerson VanCauwenbergh; brother Douglas Brunow; and many nieces and nephews.

Sondra was preceded in death by her husband Frank VanCauwenbergh, in 2005; son Mark VanCauwenbergh; parents Raymond and Gertrude (Strecker) Brunow; and sister Phyllis Jarrett.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 1 PM.  Pastor Kathleen Suggitt will officiate.  Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
