Samuel E. Wilcox, age 86, of Port Clinton, passed away Monday afternoon, June 15, 2026, at Admiral’s Pointe Nursing Home, Huron.
He was born November 2, 1939, in Denver, CO. He received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from St. Louis University and worked for the University City, MO, Police Department for over 37 years, where he was a Police Captain. Prior to working in the Police Department, Sam proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years as a Military Police Sergeant. Sam was a member of Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, Sandusky, and loved to play cards; especially poker and go fishing. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren in his workshop.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Yeoman) Wilcox; daughters Kimberly (Scott) Jones, Chris (Jeff) Nielsen, and Cindy (Tim) Dulany; nine grandchildren Samantha Jones, Dustin (Loren) Jones, Maria (James) Stewart, Cynthia Nielsen, Amanda Nielsen, Laura Cantrell, Sarah (Billy) Kaune, Thomas Cantrell, and Samuel Cantrell; five great grandchildren Tony Jones, Michael Jones, Chase Jones, Billy Kaune, and Willow Kaune; sister Betty McClery; and several nieces and nephews.
Sam is preceded in death by his mother Francis Juanita (Killian) Wilcox; sister Bernitia Hash and Barbara Bailey; and brothers Charles and Thomas Wilcox.
Friends may call from 4 PM until time of services at 7 PM, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Pastor Jen Herrmann will officiate. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12 Noon in Sugar Creek Cemetery 3263 Co Hwy 35, Washington Court House, OH 43160.
