Rachel E. Kishman, age 77, of Castalia, passed peacefully Sunday evening, January 26, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 9, 1948, in Winona Lake, IN, and graduated from Sexton High School, Lansing, MI.  She continued her education at Grace College, IN, where she received her bachelor's degree in education.  Rachel was a beloved elementary teacher for Fremont and Margaretta Schools for almost 30 years.  She was loved by her students who she stayed in touch with for years after.  She was very proud of her end of year thank you dinners for the parents and she also appreciated the numerous teaching awards she received throughout her career. Rachel was a member of Grace Community Church in Fremont, and enjoyed shopping, playing the piano, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Not only was she a wonderful Mother, daughter, wife, sister, and aunt, but also was a treasured friend to so many. She will be missed more than we can imagine.

She is survived by her daughters Sheryl (Matt) Simko and Tamara Sayre from Rachel's first husband David Sayre; children Kendra (Jessica) Kishman and Davey (Sierra) Kishman, with the love of her life, Harvey Kishman; sister Lois (Dr. David) Harmon; brother-in-law Les Cancel; and nephews Steve (Maggie), Tim (Natasha), Jon (Colleen) Harmon, Victor (Maria), Jac (Katrina) Cancel, cousin Roland Maust and grandchildren Avery and Amelia.

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Kishman, parents Ward and Agnes Tressler; sister Deborah Cancel and her beloved dog Snoopy.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM Thursday February 13, 2025, at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith St. Fremont, OH, where memorial services will be held on Friday February 14, 2025 at 12 noon.  An additional visitation will be held prior to the Service from 11 AM -12 PM.  Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer will officiate.  Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
