LaVerne Ehrbar, age 94, of Kelleys Island, passed away Saturday evening, February 11, 2017, at Otterbein North Shore, Lakeside-Marblehead, after a lengthy illness.

She was born October 5, 1922, in Cleveland, OH and graduated from West Tech High School, Cleveland.  She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kelleys Island, where she was on the senior knitting club.  LaVerne loved to play dominos, cards, and bingo; she was very competitive and hated to lose.

She is survived by her daugther Linda (John) Hostal; nine grandchildren John (Laura) Hostal, Kelley Priebe, Sharon Bach, James (MaryJo) Ehrbar, Shannon Barilow, Nicole Marc-Aurele, Lisa Cruz, Brian Biszantz, and John Biszantz; great grandchildren Erin and John "JJ" Hostal, Zachary, Haley, and Courtney Priebe, Hannah, Payton, and Christopher Bach, Alexis and Elizabeth Barilow, Marcus Marc-Aurele, Mason Thornton, Julia Cruz, Garrett Bach, and Sarah, Rori, and Brayden Biszantz.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband Adelbert Ehrbar; parents Henry and Lillie (Schroeder) Krauth; daughter Laurie Palmer; son James Ehrbar;great granddaughter Leigha Hostal; sister Dorothy Schnieder; and brother Chester Krauth

Friends may call Friday, February 17, 2017, from 2 PM until time of services at 5:30 PM, at Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, OH.  Burial will be in Kelleys Island Cemetery at a later date.
