Kim W. Watkins, age 78, of Kelleys Island, passed away Monday April 8, 2024, at Admiral's Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation, Huron.

She was born August 30, 1945, in Grand Rapids, MI, and graduated from Leelanau School in Glen Arbor, MI.  She received her Bachelors' in Social Work from Kent State University.   Kim owned and operated the Island Market on Kelleys Island with her husband Rob for 40 years.  Kim was awarded the Kelleys Island Citizen of the Year award presented by the Kelleys Island Homeowners Association.  She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Kelleys Island, was on the Kelleys Island School board for 17 years and served with the Kelleys Island EMS for 12 years, being the first lady on the Department.

She is survived by her husband Rob Watkins; daughter Robin (Ryan) Conry; son Elic Watkins; 4 sisters; one brother; and nieces and nephews.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Mary (Reichardt) Welch.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday June 21, 2024, at Zion United Methodist Church, Kelleys Island. The Rev. John Butchko will officiate. Burial will be in Kelleys Island Cemetery.  Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
