Joyce L. Johnson, age 85, of Sandusky, died Friday, May 5, 2017, in the Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky.

She was born May 9, 1931, in Clinchco, VA, and was a 1950 graduate of Clincho High School where she was valedictorian.  She was employed in the "Company Store" by the Clinchfield Coal Co., and later was a cook at  Rockwell Springs Trout Club and Margaretta Schools.

Joyce attended Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky. She loved visiting with all her grandchildren, bird watching, Lake Erie fish, cooking, and canning. She was an avid fan of Duke University Basketball, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Margaretta  Polar Bears

She is survived by her husband James Johnson, to whom she was married for 65 years on April 5, 2017; 3 daughters Karen Johnson of Sandusky, Robin (Owen) Morey of Huron, and Lisa (Randall) Stasiak of Indianapolis, IN; 2 sons James (Nancy) Johnson of Castalia, and Johnny (Lorie) Johnson of Sandusky; grandchildren Stephen and Kelly, Melanie and Andy, Derek, Morgan, Jamie and Tyler, Lindsay and Dana, Raquel, Alexandria, Kayla, and Korrina; great grandchildren Anell, Calliope, Scicily and 2 on the way; 2 sisters Rita Large of Honolulu, HI, and Glenda Large of Aberdeen, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Friends may call from 4-8 pm Monday, May 8, 2017, and 10-11 am Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday in the funeral home with Mr. David Sellers, Executive Director of Camp Patmos on Kelleys Island, officiating. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
