Josefina Santana Avila, age 89, of Castalia, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

She was born March 17, 1933, in San Juan, Jalisco, Mexico, to Feliciano and Victoria (Esparza) Santana.  She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky.  Josefina loved to garden, cook, and travel; and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters Nancy (Larry) Hart and Delia (Bill) Fleming; sons Salvador Santana, Jorge Santana, Bob (Jackie) Avila, and Ruben (Kari) Avila; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Josefina was preceded in death by her husband Jesus Avila, in 2021; her parents; daughter and son in-law Rosalina and Michael Gale; and several brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 3-6 PM Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 10 AM.  Deacon Bill Burch will officiate.  Entombment will be in Castalia Cemetery.
