Jesus Avila, 86, of Castalia, died Saturday afternoon, April 17, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born May 30, 1934 in San Luis, Mexico, to Jose and Teresa Avila. He was employed by Barr Rubber and Union Chain for many years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines, a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, and a member of the Amvets.
Jesus enjoyed Sunday Get Togethers with his family, and loved being around his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josefina Santana; 3 daughters Rosalina Gale, Nancy (Larry) Hart, and Delia (William) Fleming; 4 sons Salvador Santana, Jorge Santana, Bob (Jackie) Avila, and Ruben (Kari) Avila; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Tina Kovasckitz and Sophie Spataro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters Mary Veliz and Toni Fischer; and son-in-law Michael Gale, Sr.
Friends may call from 5-7 pm Tuesday, April 20, in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services for the family will be held Wednesday, April 21. Entombment will be held in Castalia Cemetery.
