James R. Roberts's Obituary

James R. Roberts, Sr., 79, of Monroeville, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Waterloo, IA, to William L. and Ilo T. (Meekins) Roberts. He was a graduate of Grundy Co. High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was journeyman electrician at Dephi, retiring in 2006. He and his wife Chris were owners of Bud's Place, and are current owners of the Mason Jar.

He enjoyed hunting, boating, riding his motorcycle, and loved all music except Rapp.

Jim is survived by his wife, the former Christine Larcomb, to whom he was married for 36 years; son James R. (Merry) Roberts; grandchildren T.J. Hencye, Ian, Brenna, and Gavin Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Jane Schott, brother William L. Roberts, Jr., and daughter Deana L. Lemert.

Friends may call from 1-4 pm Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, and from 11 am Monday, Dec. 6, until time of services at 12 noon, in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Pastor Tom Groot will officiate and inurnment will be in Castalia Cemetery.
