Helen R. Dean, age 91, formerly of Castalia, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday afternoon, January 17, 2024, at the Wedgewood Estates, Mansfield, surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born May 21, 1932, in Omar WV, to John and Icy Mae (Cook) Sostrich.  Helen married Troy Dean on December 23, 1948, and were inseparable for 67 years of marriage.  She attended numerous Freewill Baptist churches during her life-time, and she loved baking and spending time with her family. She never met a baby she didn't love and enjoyed word search puzzles and her hand held games.

She is survived by two daughters Norma (David) Piddock, and Rhonda Dean; three sons Leslie (Debra) Dean, Roger (Wanda) Dean, and Terry (Delilah) Dean; 12 grandchildren Lisa Martin, Heather Michaels, Lesley Schardt, Christopher Dean, James Dean, Jason Dean, Erin Williams, Hayla Clark, Madison Piddock, Cody Piddock, Amaya Dean, and Jazmin Dean; 18 great grandchildren; sister in-law Vivian Adkins; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Troy Dean; son Garland Dean; granddaughter Kristen Dean; parents John and Icy Mae Sostrich; three sisters Grace Milton, Lucy Dean, and Frances Sostrich; and one brother James Sostrich.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held on Monday January 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Jay Hill will officiate.  Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery, with Pastor Leslie Dean conducting the committal service.
