Gary E. Weilnau, 72, of Sandusky, died Friday morning, July 16, 2021, in his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Sandusky, and was a 1967 graduate of Margaretta High School. He was employed for the City of Sandusky in the Sewer Maintenance Department  for 34 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 83, and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, Ohio State Sports, woodworking, visiting casinos, and most of all watching his grandkids in their numerous activities. He bowled in the Cedar Lanes Couples League for over 30 years.

Gary is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Oeder, to whom he was married for 53 years; daughter Laurie (Brian) Stimmel and their children Kassidie and Kenna; son Gary (Cheryl) Weilnau and their children Justin, Jacob (Ashlee Stanley), and Allison; several nieces and nephews; and daughter like Rita Cruz.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Lauretta "Grahl" Weilnau and special aunt Kate Korenke.

Friends may call from 5-8 pm Sunday, July 18, 2021, in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, July 19. The Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate and burial will be in Venice Cemetery, Sandusky.
