Ernie L. Trapp, age 76, of Castalia, passed away Thursday night, March 5, 2026, at the Bellevue Hospital following a lengthy heart condition.

He was born in Oak Hill, OH, on March 3, 1950, to Ernest and Mary (Evans) Trapp.  He graduated from Margaretta High School in 1968, and was a conductor for Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring in 1991.  Ernie was a member of the Bellevue Eagles and enjoying going 4-wheeling and cruising in his convertible frequenting all the local watering holes.

He is survived by his sons Darren (Angie) Trapp, Chaun Trapp; mother Mary Trapp; grandchildren Chadd Trapp, Kenna Schmehl, Tyler (Sara) Trapp, and Darby DeLong; sisters Carolyn (Charles) Weider, Barb (Jeff) Cornwell, and Jennifer (Randy) Swartz, brothers Emmett Trapp and Jeff (Vicki) Trapp; and many nieces and nephews.

Ernie was preceded in death by his father Ernest Trapp; sisters Debbie (Gary) Ballard, Pam (William) Mooney; sister in-law Donna Trapp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM Tuesday March 10, 2026, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.
