David Cruz, Jr., age 29, of Castalia, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 28, 1987, in Sandusky, and graduated from Margaretta High School in 2005; where he played football and track.  David worked as a groundskeeper for Fremont Country Club, Fremont and also for Classic Lawn Care.  He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky.

He is survived by three children Brayden, Carmen, and Zachary Cruz; father David Cruz Sr., Sandusky; mother Kathleen Herman, Castalia; paternal grandmother Carmen Cruz, Fremont; maternal grandmother Leona Herman, Bellevue; brother Daniel Cruz, Castalia; step-mother Ruth Cruz; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Reuben Cruz and maternal grandfather Marcus "Max" Herman.

Friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Prayer services will be at 9:30 am Friday, June 24, 2016, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky.  Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
