Catherine "Kate" Korenke, 92, of Monroeville, died Monday morning, Dec. 7, 2020, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 1, 1928, in Sandusky, and was a 1936 graduate of Margaretta High School. She was employed by the Ohio Veterans Home and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Oxford Township.
Kate is survived by her daughter Jerri Zimmerman of Bellevue; granddaughter Heather (Jeff) Turner; great granddaughter Melaina Stanley of Bellevue; great great grandson Zane Turner.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Korenke in 2002; her mother Louise Groth in 1971; daughter Deborah Korenke in 2020; son-in-law Larry Zimmerman in 2017; sisters Geraldine Grahl Hosko and Lauretta Grahl Weilnau; brothers Edward and Wilber Grahl; and special nephew John Hosko in 2018.
Friends may call from 10 am Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, until time of services at 11 am in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. The Rev. Dr. Diane Carter, pastor of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Bellevue, will officiate. Burial will be in Venice Cemetery.The family requests that all attending wear a mask and practice social distancing due to the covid pandemic.
