Carol S. "Susie" Stephens SANDUSKY - Carol S. "Susie" Stephens, 65, of Sandusky, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. She was born in Sandusky, September 15, 1947, to Alvah and Mabel Wiedenheft, and graduated from Margaretta High School in 1965. Susie was a beloved housewife who loved playing with her grandchildren, and spending time perch fishing and watching birds with her husband. She retired after 25 years of service as a cook for Margaretta Schools and worked part time for Mantey's Winery. She had been an avid runner, a charter member of Firelands Area Runners (FAR), and for several years, served as Margaretta's Junior High cross country coach. Susie was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Russell Stephens; sons, Christopher Stephens and Benjamin (Christina) Stephens; daughter, Alinor Stephens; sister, Betty (Wes) Miller; grandchildren, Alison Chloe Stephens, Olivia Stephens, Devin Stephens, and Madison Stephens; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Susie was preceded in death by her daughter, Alison Carol Stephens; parents, Alvah and Mabel Wiedenheft; and brother, William Wiedenheft. Friends may call 4 - 9 PM Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and 10 AM Friday, March 15, 2013, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Rd., Sandusky. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the church. Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Margaretta Rescue Squad, 113 South Ave., Castalia, OH 44824, or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Rd. Sandusky, OH 44870.
