Bette Ann (Kastor) Mapus's Obituary

Bette Ann Mapus (Kastor) CASTALIA: Bette Ann Mapus (Kastor) made her transition from physical to spiritual form in the early morning on Saturday March 16th, 2013 at age 64. Bette is remembered by her friends, colleagues, patients, and confidants at The Bellevue Hospital where she worked as a CT, X-Ray, and MRI Technician for 25 years. Bette left us unexpectedly, but with comfort and peace. She was preparing for Ohio summer, and she loved fishing with her grandchildren, attending sporting events, catching a Lake Erie breeze with a margarita, basking in Marblehead sunsets, mowing her lawn to emerald perfection, traveling to new and exciting destinations, and fawning over her family and friends at any possible opportunity. In physical form Bette was a model of health, vitality, youthful exuberance, and a thirst for living that was permanently unquenchable. A three-time cancer survivor, Bette lived every day without reserve, and without apology. She is survived and celebrated by her daughters, Bette Ann (James) Tippie, Robyn Lyn Karbler, and Danielle Lea (Darrel) Lopez; her grandchildren, Mark (Arielle) Hallier, Jamie Tippie, Troy and Gabrielle Karbler; step-grandchildren, Tara and Elizabeth Tippie; and great step-granddaughter, Ellie Manion. Bette was preceded in death by her mother, Clarabelle Meggitt, father Harold "Pete" Meggitt; and Aunt Lenora and Uncle John Roth Jr. We will honor her explicit directions for celebrating her life with a catered party and remembrance extravaganza to be held at the Townsend Township Volunteer Fire Station (Vickery Fire Hall, 5076 Co. Rd. 247, Vickery, OH, 43464) on her 65th birthday this Friday, March 22nd from 3-8pm. The party will include observations of Bette's character, her obstinance, her quirks, and her love of music, food, and family. We will have speakers from 3-5, food and frolicking from 5-7, and a candlelight memorial at The Cove from 7-8pm. Come hungry, thirsty, and ready to laugh, except for those of you who are not invited (you know who you are - Wahoo!). Monetary donations will be accepted at the party and excess proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the American Cancer Association Susan G. Komen Foundation . Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, was in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ransomfuneralhome.com
