(Jr.) Doyon
November 23, 1944 – April 6, 2018
Bernard Joseph Doyon Jr., age 73, of Sandusky, passed on Friday, April 6th, 2018, in the care of Stein Hospice at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous and breathtaking battle with cancer.
Bernie was born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 23rd, 1944. The son of Bernard and Virginia (Greenfelder) Doyon. As a young man, Bernie enjoyed fishing with his family. For six years he worked at Ford Motor Company, then proceeded to work for Norfolk and Southern until his retirement in 2004. For the next ten years, he helped deliver flowers for the Castalia Flower Shoppe until his diagnosis.
On October 30, 1976, he married the love of his life, Peggy Neill.
He enjoyed cooking biscuits and gravy for his family, working on fill in puzzles and playing solitaire. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bernie is survived by five daughters Laurie (Jeff) Wedeman of Kentucky, Debra (Jeff Dailey) Lichti of Connecticut, Joanne Nicholson, Jennifer (Andy Waldock) Smith and Cheryl (Matt) Parker, all of Ohio; two sons: Bernard (Mary) Doyon III of Virginia and Michael Mitchell of Sandusky; sister: Mary Ann Robinson; brother Joseph (Kathy) Doyon of Ohio; grandchildren: Dean, Matthew, Daniel, Bruce, Paige, Storm, Kapri, Peyton, Trace, Autumn, Nolan, Emmett, Whitley, Morgan and Nevaeh; great grandchildren: Kaden, Hunter and Eastin; sisters in laws: Pat (Bob) LaCourse, Penny (Rich) Williams, Linda (AI) Followay, and Shelley (David) Veverka; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; step mother Phyllis Doyon; brother John; and brother in laws William Robinson, Chester E. Bango and Doug Bango.
Cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family will be held Thursday, April 12th, 2018, at 3:00 PM, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St, Castalia.
