Margaret L. Close

Margaret L. (Hauenstein) Close, age 89, of Castalia, passed away Tuesday morning, October 16, 2018, at the Bellevue Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Castalia on June 29, 1929, to Andrew and Lucille (Hawn) Meyer and was a 1947 graduate of Margaretta High School.  She served as Castalia Village Clerk, and retired from Owens Illinois/Castalia Farms in 1989.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia.

She is survived by daughter Cathy (Tom) Hiestand, Elida; son Mike (Carolyn) Hauenstein, Castalia; five grandchildren Jonathan (Carrie) Hiestand, Wapakoneta, Heather (Jim) Clay, North Dakota, Lori (Rob) Nickester, Texas, Jeff (Erin) Drossman, Georgia, and Marcia (Rusty) Holliday, Castalia; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her 1st husband Harry Hauenstein, 1977; 2nd husband Dale Close, 2005; great grandson Cole Hiestand, 2011; parents Andrew and Lucille (Hawn) Meyer; brother and sister in-law Andy and June Meyer; and sister and brother in-law Pat and John Newman.

Friends may call from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM, Friday, October 19, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia.  Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate.  Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
