John J. Riedy

John J. Riedy, age 76, of Castalia, went into the arms of his Savior, Sunday morning, January 19, 2020, following a brief illness. 

He was born May 2, 1943, in Sandusky, and graduated from Akron Kenmore High School in 1961.  John proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and fought in the Vietnam War; he also graduated from airplane mechanic school while enlisted. He worked for JH Routh Packing for 18 years and then started his own business in home renovation and handyman work.  John was a member of the Journey Church, Fremont, where he was very active in Bible study and Men’s group.  He loved to work in the church’s nursery.  For over 30 years, John was the chaplain at the Erie County Care Facility.

He is survived by his wife Gayle Ann (Felske) Riedy; four sons John Riedy Jr, Jason (Julie) Riedy, Jeremiah (Bibi) Riedy, and Gemariah Riedy; six grandchildren; sister Judy (Nick) Salomon; brothers Jim (Bonnie) Riedy and Joel Riedy; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Alberta (Michael) Riedy.

Friends may call from 10 AM until time of Celebration of Life starting at 12 Noon, Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Faith Memorial Church 1320 E. Strub Rd. Sandusky, OH 44870.  Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
