Richard A. Ryan, age 84, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Monday evening, January 20, 2018, at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1933, in Sandusky, and attended Sandusky High School. Richard served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for Vulcan United Materials for 30 years. After retiring, he restored six Allis Chalmers tractors and one Farmall tractor. He loved to watch races on TV and he also raced his own car at the Sandusky speedway, he was the purple #34 car in the super modified class. Richard was a member of the Firelands Tractor Club and he loved his cats.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma (Hartley) Ryan; three daughters Barb (Sam) Glorioso, Denise (Lynn) Lachner, and Doris Ryan; six grandchildren Penny Baker, Deanna (Shawn) Busch, Sammy Glorioso, Carmine Glorioso, Erika (Anthony) Palmison, and Aimee (Jacob Wiley) Smith, 11 great grand children Lesily (Cody) Curry, Travis Lauer, Connor Grosjean, Aubre Palmison, Emma Palmison, Mercedes Glorioso, Ricky Glorioso, Sammy Glorioso III, Antanette Glorioso, Anthony Glorioso, and Antonio Glorioso; two great great grandchildren Zyin and Rook Curry; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Doris (Rice) Ryan; daughter in infancy Tamera Ryan, and one sister.
Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday, January 26, 2018, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 10:00 AM. Pastor Gene Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
