Marjorie A. Scherz, age 79, of Castalia, died Saturday morning, February 24, 2018, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
She was born June 2, 1938, in Sandusky, to John and Alma (Lemke) Cullen. She graduated from Margaretta High School in 1956, where she was homecoming queen in 1954. Following high school, Marjorie married Edward G. Scherz Jr. in Angola, IN, on May 11, 1956. She worked as a house cleaner and waitress at Castalia Trout Club for Mr. & Mrs. Reeves and was the secretary at Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia, for 42 years.
She is survived by five children Marla (Gary) Tucker, Edward (Renee Tinkle) Scherz III, Kimberly (Keith Brisker) Scherz, John Scherz Sr, and Melissa (Robert) Leist; 12 grandchildren Tami (Otto) Kromer, Joshua Tucker, Edward (Denise) Scherz IV, Joanne Scherz, Austin Eppse, Douglas (Brittany Keller) Jacobs Jr, Danielle Jacobs, Derrick Jacobs, John (Ashlee DeVore) Scherz Jr, Christopher Scherz, Treyton Scherz, and Cameille Leist; seven great grandchildren Addie Kromer, Maggie Kromer, Kylie Scherz, Brantley Scherz, Andrew Tucker, Douglas Jacobs Jr, and Jayce Jacobs; sister Jean Miller; sister in-law Gladys Cullen; and many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Edward Scherz Jr, in 1993; parents John and Alma (Lemke) Cullen; two sisters Mary Bartlett and Madaline Givens; and four brothers Bill, Kenny, Carl, and Don Cullen.
Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
