Lester W. Swaney, age 86, of Sandusky, died Thursday evening, February 16, 2017, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

He was born July 6, 1930, in Monroeville, and graduated from North Fairfield High School in 1949.  Lester served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the American Legion and Eagles, both in Sandusky. He worked at Ford Motor Co. for almost 40 years as a skilled tradesman, retiring in October of 1994. 

He is survived by his wife Althea "Jean" Swaney; sons Doug (Michele) Swaney, St. Louis, and Kevin Swaney, Sandusky; grandchildren Lindsey Swaney, St Louis, Caren Nemitz, Sandusky, Faye Wootton, Chesterfield VA, and Ken Swaney, Huntsville TX; sister Margaret Tackett, Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ethel (Nichols) Swaney; sisters Helen, Esther, Doris, and Effie; brothers Gladdin, Clifton, Glen, Lloyd, and Harold.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 AM until time of Remembrance Service at 1PM, Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.
